NHL All-Star Weekend

The NHL All-Star Game was in Raleigh, and they held a fan fest downtown the weekend of the game.

We went down and met Jim's cousin John (Johnny as we still call him!), and his wife Meridith.

They had a street festival on Fayetteville Street:

They also had a bunch of exhibits at the convention center.  Jim tried his hand at the slap shot MPH exhibit, the radar gun was either broken or Jim lost all hockey ability because it registered a whopping 12 mph!  Ha ha ha...
Then he and Johnny tried their luck with the stick-handling competition:

Avery got to try on the actual helmets worn by some NHL players...this one was John Tavares from the NY Islanders
Notice it fits her head?!?!  At the doctor's office her head circumfrence was the 95th percentile, she must have a big cranium up there!

Then Avery and daddy got to see what they'd look like as NHL all-star players:
Jim and Johnny got to pose under the big picture of former St Louis hockey player Brett Hull
Who kind of looks like Jim by the way:

Anyway, it was a fun way to spend a Sunday!
